He stopped, hovering above her lips, giving her the opportunity to back away…create space between them. Instead, she leaned into him, met his kiss. The moments evaporated as he held her, a touch as light as if she were a cherry blossom he could crush.
Get caught up in romance and suspense with this novella from award-winning author Cara Putman.
Things were business as usual for family law attorney Ciara Turner, until she walked into her mentor’s office to find the judge had been murdered. To make things worse, the emotional moments were witnessed by Ciara’s nemesis, opposing counsel David Evans—the man she once thought she’d spend the rest of her life with.
David can’t walk away from the murder investigation. Judge Palmer was the only one who believed in him enough to give the boy from the wrong side of the tracks a fighting chance. But his amateur sleuthing keeps him crossing paths with Ciara and he can’t help but admire her passion for her clients, even if they are often at odds across the judgment table.
As David and Ciara get closer to discovering who killed Judge Palmer, their old feelings reignite. But the investigation takes an unexpected turn, can they trust each other enough to push for the truth? And will their rekindled relationship survive the aftermath?

Family law has never been more passionate. Ciara Turner and David Evans have a past. They served a clerkship together under the tutelage of Judge Banter. Once more than friends, now adversaries, “they were going in different directions in life. Opposing directions. Diametrically diverging directions.” Focused, fiercely independent Ciara has “built her practice around helping the defenseless.” She is determined to make a difference, to matter. She admits to building walls, to jumping to conclusions, to never truly getting over David. David Evans is charming, direct, charismatic, and regretfully Ciara-less. He has worked hard to overcome his past and build a successful, thriving practice. “Some things never changed, from her willingness to believe David or her insane longing to hear from him about something other than a divorce.” For the past few years, they have been at odds. He representing the dads, husbands, and male clients, while she represents the wives, mothers, and children. The gulf between them is hopelessly wide. Can they work together to find the murderer of their mentor and friend? I enjoyed the conflict and diverging opinions. The sparks and tension added a depth to this short story. I am intrigued by Putman’s ability to merge faith and forgiveness into this story. Themes of second or third chances, reconciling differences, and misjudging others gives this novella substance. “Every choice spirals out and touches those around us.”Product details

Dying for Love A Romantic Suspense Novella Hidden Justice edition by Cara Putman Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is a short read{novella} that has romance, mystery and suspense all written in a very interesting book…..
Ciara Turner is a lawyer and she is passionate about her work. Her clients are mostly women fighting for custody of their children. Daniel Evans is a lawyer on the opposite side of the battle, wanting the fathers to have custody. Ciara and Daniel served a clerkship together under Judge Banter. This particular Monday morning they both had an appointment with judge Banter and arriving more or less at the same time they discovered him dead on the floor of his private restroom. Daniel vowed he would see his killer brought to justice. Judge Banter had given Daniel a chance when no one else would. He felt like he owed that to the judge. Ciara and Daniel were once very close, but now they are constantly fighting one another as their ideas and goals are so diverse. They still feel a strong attraction toward each other but can not reconcile their differences. As they join together in an effort to find the killer, is it possible to lay aside past differences and find love? Will faith in God help them to overcome the past?………
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a review, but am honored to do so. All comments and opinions are my own.
Dying for Love is actually a tender romantic suspense between two lawyers who discover a dying judge! David and Ciara are both strong characters. I enjoyed this prequel to Cara Putman's new series. Readers who enjoy contemporary stories will like this book. I received my e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Great book! Loved the mix of legal suspense and romance.
This is a new author for me and this was the first book I have read of her . I loved this story, I have already downloaded her next one .
A nice story but too short. I forgot I was reading a novella. I cannot wait to read about the other characters and learn more about Ciara and David's story.
This is a gifted author. I enjoy her legal novels and hope she will write more. I see she has written other novels and I will read one of those. My preference is legal novels. I gave this book the 5 stars it deserved!!!
A good novella for an evening's read, Dying for Love, by Cara Putnam kept me scrolling eagerly to the next chapter. Since Cara is an attorney, she brings an air of authenticity to her mysteries and romantic suspenses. This story is no different.
Following the murder of a noted judge, Ciara and David attempt to discover what happened and in the process, discover they have feelings for each other that go beyond friendship. The difficulty is they also have a history together that threatens to pull them apart. The question is, will they pull apart or be drawn together.
This reviewer enjoyed this book and recommends it for an evenings read.
